Saraswati pooja is popular name of Vasant Panchami. Different regions of people call it differently. Saraswati puja is celebrated by Hindus every year to honour the Goddess Saraswati, Who is regarded as a symbol of wisdom, knowledge, music and arts.

In Hindu tradition, the spring season begins with Basant Panchami Day. It is celebrated on Panchami Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Magha. Devotees worship Saraswati as a blessing. Saraswati was a central figure in Hindu mythology and she is thought to have played a role in the creation of the world and universe.

The festival also honours Kama, who is the god of love, who is believed to have halted Lord Shiva’s deep meditation after his wife Sati died. The other interesting thing about Basant panchami is the Yellow colour. People wear yellow clothes on Saraswati Puja to worship the goddess. You might say what is so special about the yellow colour in Basant panchami? The colour yellow has special significance because it stands for the warmth of spring, crop ripening and flower blooming.

Just like other religious festive days, people get up early in the morning. In the puja, Flowers and sweets are given to the maa Saraswati, and prayers and mantras are sung in her place of honour.

Panchami Tithi Begins at 02:41 PM on February 13, 2024.
